The original. The one that started it all. Still the GOAT.
Before there was a Pro, there was this. The TWL O.G. Sticky Grips are the chalk-free gymnastics grip that built TWL's reputation in the Australian functional fitness community — trusted by thousands of athletes across every box, every rig, and every competition floor in the country. They haven't changed because they didn't need to.
If you've been borrowing a pair from your gym mate, wondering what all the fuss is about, or just ready to stop tearing your hands on pull-up bars — the OG is where you start.
TWLTAC™ — THE MATERIAL THAT MADE TWL'S REPUTATION:
The TWL O.G. Sticky Grips are built from TWLTac™ — TWL's proprietary 2mm Hypalon-based grip material, backed with soft microfibre for palm comfort. Two layers. One purpose: keep you on the bar.
-
Layer 1 — Hypalon outer face (2mm): Hypalon is a synthetic rubber compound with exceptional natural tackiness on steel, powder-coated, and stainless bars. It doesn't need chalk to activate — contact and body warmth are enough. At 2mm, the TWLTac™ face is thick enough to land exactly where you want it on the bar every time, without flopping or bunching mid-movement.
-
Layer 2 — Microfibre backing: Soft microfibre sits directly against your palm, wicking sweat and preventing internal slipping that undermines grip control during long sets.
This is fundamentally different to how leather or carbon fibre grips work. Traditional grips rely on chalk to create friction. TWLTac™ creates its own — and as your hands warm up during a session, the Hypalon surface gets stickier, not worse. The result: consistent grip performance from your first rep to your last, without any prep, chalk buckets, or white hands.
⚠️ Note: TWLTac™ grips work best on a clean, smooth bar. Use the included microfibre towel to wipe off any chalk residue before training — it makes a significant difference to grip performance.
FINGERLESS — WHY IT MATTERS:
The O.G. Sticky Grips use a fingerless design — and that's a deliberate performance choice, not a cost-cutting measure. Here's why serious athletes choose fingerless:
-
Better bar feel: Your fingertips stay in direct contact with the bar, giving you natural feedback and control through complex gymnastics movements
-
Faster transitions: No fingers to catch or bunch during kipping movements, muscle-up transitions, or ring work
-
Covers what matters: The OG covers approximately 3/4 of your hand and fingers — protecting the palm and the meat of your fingers where tearing actually happens, while keeping your fingertips free
-
Lighter feel: Less material = less bulk = a more natural grip on the bar
BUILT FOR EVERY BAR MOVEMENT:
The wider palm design and ideal thickness — firm enough to land exactly where you want them when you jump to the bar, not so thick they flop or bunch — make the OG Sticky Grips reliable across the full range of gymnastics and bar movements:
- Pull-ups & chin-ups — high-rep sets without hand tearing
- Toes-to-bar — consistent contact through fatigue
- Bar muscle-ups — smooth transition from pull to push without slipping
- Ring muscle-ups — TWLTac™ tackiness works on wooden & metal rings
- Chest-to-bar pull-ups — wider coverage protects the palm at full extension
- Dead hangs — reliable contact under load, no grip fatigue from squeezing
THE WRIST SYSTEM:
The OG wrist system uses a 1.5-inch wide leather wrist strap with a metal strap loop — not plastic, which cracks under repeated loading. A precision-cut strap hole gives you a clean, customised fit, and the thick neoprene wrist pad eliminates pressure points during extended sessions. The pull-tab design makes getting in and out fast — no fumbling between movements.

CHALK-FREE — HOW IT WORKS:
TWLTac™ grips work through surface contact, not chalk friction. A clean, smooth bar produces the best results. Before your session, use the included microfibre towel to wipe down the bar — remove any chalk dust, tape residue, or sweat from previous athletes. 15 seconds of prep makes a significant difference. In competitions where your teammates use chalk, wipe your section clean before stepping under the bar.
SIZING — SIMPLE TWO-SIZE SYSTEM:
TWL O.G. Sticky Grips come in two sizes. Measure from the base of your palm to the tip of your middle finger:
-
Small/Medium: Up to 19cm palm length
-
Large/XL: 19cm and above
When between sizes, go larger. A grip with slightly more coverage is always preferable to one that's too small and restricts movement.
⚠️ SAFETY — PLEASE READ BEFORE USING:
Grip lock can occur if the grip wraps excessively around the bar and becomes stuck during a movement — especially on kipping exercises. The fingerless O.G. Sticky Grips should cover approximately 3/4 of your hand — not your full fingers. Before using in a workout, test carefully in a controlled environment. Size correctly, secure the wrist strap, and always know how to open your hand and release during movements. Inspect for wear before each session. If in doubt, contact the TWL team.
